Unique Adventure Activities near Moose Pass, Alaska

moose pass lodgingThe highly-anticipated fishing season is a month away here in Moose Pass, Alaska, as anglers from across the globe are aching to escape to the world-famous Kenai River for some of the best salmon fishing in Alaska. While we highly encourage all travelers to embark on a day-long float trip down the Kenai River, the scenic Kenai Peninsula has so much more to offer than just fishing, including a wide variety of unique adventure activities. Trail Lake Lodge, home to the premier Moose Pass lodging, is minutes away from sea kayaking, ziplining, and horseback riding adventures as we’re a short drive from both Seward and Cooper Landing.

Sea Kayaking

Trail Lake Lodge collaborates with the area’s best adventure-based companies to provide guests with flexible, customized all-inclusive packages. And one of the best ways to explore the Kenai Peninsula’s jaw-dropping waterways is with a sea kayaking excursion through Adventure Sixty North out of nearby Seward. While Adventure Sixty North offers a wide variety of guided tours, ranging from fishing to gold panning, they specialize in sea kayaking. They offer half-day, full-day, and multi-day trips to several breathtaking locals, including Aialik Glacier, Resurrection Bay, and Bridal Veil Falls. The serene waters that surround the southern edge of Kenai Fjords National Park are nothing short of awe-inspiring!

Ziplining

moose pass lodgingThe Kenai Peninsula is an outdoor enthusiast’s wonderland for those who enjoy hiking, backpacking, and birding, but one of the best ways to get a thrilling “taste” of this serene wilderness is with an exhilarating zipline canopy tour in nearby Seward. Stoney Creek Canopy Adventures offers thrillseekers with a three-hour zipline tour that features eight zips, jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Kenai Mountains, three suspension bridges, and even two rappels. There’s nothing quite like they zipping through a lush valley of Sitka spruces and tall hemlocks with a family of snow-capped mountains smiling back at you.

Horseback Riding

Approximately 26 miles south of our Moose Pass Lodging rests an unpretentious horseback riding company north of Seward. Bardy’s Trail Rides is hands down one of our favorite adventure-based companies in the area as their two-hour horseback riding tours provide travelers with up-close-and-personal encounters with nesting bald eagles, awe-inspiring Pacific Ocean views, and gripping stories of this region’s past. You’ll gallop through the old town of Seward which was sadly destroyed by an earthquake in the mid-1960s. This tour is equally beautiful and educational – it’s also one of the best ways to survey the land!
