Hit the Open Sea on Your Visit to Trail Lake
The Last Frontier is quite literally an outdoor enthusiast’s playground. Trail Lake Lodge is steps from Trail Lakes, overlooking the vast mountainous Chugach National Forest. Our breathtaking slice of Alaskan paradise is always a short expedition from a day filled with wonder and awe-inspiring natural beauty. Tourists from all across the globe choose Trail Lake Lodge because we offer customizable five to seven-day Adventure Vacation Packages that include Alaska fishing, glacier cruises, whale watching, Kenai River float trips, and so much more. Here are some of our favorite group activities to try on your next voyage to the Kenai Peninsula.
Guided Alaska Fishing Trips
The Kenai Peninsula is, of course, considered one of the premier fishing hubs in the entire world. Trail Lake Lodge rests deep in the heart of the Kenai fishing scene. Our Alaska fishing lodge houses dozens of anglers from all over the globe daily. We offer guided halibut charters onto the open ocean and fly fishing river excursions in search of trout, salmon, and halibut.
Kenai Fjords Marine Cruises
Witness some of the most awe-inspiring glaciers left on Earth with a marine cruise in nearby Kenai Fjords National Park. The park is aptly named after the many narrow, deep inlets. Depending on your specific voyage, you’ll get a first-hand look at some of the most massive glaciers in the U.S., including Exit Glacier, Aialik Glacier, and Bear Glacier.
Whale and Marine Mammal Viewing
Kenai Fjords National Park, which is only 30 miles southwest of Trail Lake Lodge, has some of the world’s best whale watching. It’s also worth emphasizing that our marine mammal viewing tours are so much more than whales. We often spot sea otters, seals, mountain goats, sea lions, Dall porpoises, and dozens of birds. There are fin, orca, and humpback whales in this region. Remember to bring binoculars!
Float Trip Down the Kenai River
Many of our guests are surprised to find out their favorite vacation activity was the Kenai River float trip. Six to eight lucky rafters embark on a non-motorized floating raft tour down the breathtaking Kenai River. The friendly, knowledgeable, and charismatic guide will inform, entertain, and point out the many marvelous features of the gorge. The river is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and occasionally beavers, moose, bald eagles, bears, salmon, waterfowl, and Dall sheep.

Choose from a wide variety of activities, including bird watching, dogsled tours, horseback riding, zip lining, sea kayaking, and many more.
